The Minister of Highways, Johnston Fernando opened the first smart bus halt established near the HSBC Bank in Rajagiriya yesterday (25) which marked the commencement of the current government’s project to establish 3000 smart bus halts across the country under the President’s national policy framework “Vistas of Prosperity and Splendour”.
Some of the unique facilities of this smart bus halt include Rs. 1 million insurance cover for its passengers, free Wi-Fi, mobile phone charging, SBS TV broadcasts, eco-friendly advertisements, and 24-hour CCTV security.
This project is undertaken by the Ministry of Highways in collaboration with the Road Development Authority and Expressway Transport Company Pvt Ltd.
Madhura Withanage, M.P., Kelum Jayasumana, Chairman of Expressway Transport Company and its General Manager Abheetha Edirisinghe were also present on this occasion.
