Must read

Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said that airport functions and tourist arrivals will continue in accordance with health guidelines despite the current COVID-19 situation in the country.

He said that no decision has been taken yet to limit the repatriation process of Sri Lankans despite the increase of COVID-19 patients in the country.

“We are giving our utmost assistance to health authorities to control the spread of the virus. The pandemic seems to be more dangerous now than before and this situation should be brought under control if we want to revive the tourism industry,” he added.

Tourists who are arriving in the country are subject to PCR tests and 14-day quarantine period. These regulations are strictly implemented. Since the third wave of COVID-19 is spreading worldwide, there is certain control in the tourism industry globally. On the other hand, it would negatively affect the country’s economy.

However, the President always advices us to take the best decision for the betterment of the country and we always do so,” he added.
