Country will suffer brain-drain – Sajith Premadasa

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa expressed serious concern over the movement of highly skilled and qualified people to foreign countries seeking better employment opportunities and predicted this unhappy brain-drain concept will definitely come to an end under an an SJB Government in the future.

The Opposition Leader made these remarks at Suriyawewa in Hambantota to open an SJB party office.

He said the ancient kings ruled the country following the 10 most important rules (Dasaraja Dharmaya) by providing people with all welfare facilities and the SJB too wishes to follow the same principles for the benefit of the people.

Premadasa further said a majority of the people face immense hardships due to the escalating prices essential items.

“I do not know why the Government does not find solutions to resolve these important issues as promised during the last election period,“ he said.

Premadasa also focused attention towards the Government’s inability of solving the teachers and principals salary anomalies. He said this sad situation badly affects 4.3 million school children who are the country’s future.

The Opposition Leader also highlighted about the fertilizer issue and said the majority of farmer families are suffering due to lack of fertilizer to start their Maha season paddy cultivations. He also expressed concern about the sugar, garlic and coconut oil scam and said they helped a certain section who have very close association with powerful politicians.

Premadasa also mentioned about the 1970–1977 period when long queues have become the order of the day. He assured that such problems will definitely be solved under a future SJB Government.
