Nalaka Jayalath, the trainer and mentor of the Ashawari music band from Medirigiriya consisting female children under 16, says that the recent problems the band faced have been solved and they have started performing as usual.
He also said the ban resumed performances with the intervention of Children and Women’s Affairs State Minister Geetha Kumarasinghe.
Nalaka Jayalath said that the National Child Protection Authority took action to stop the work of the band recently which has been performing musical shows for nine months. He thanked Minister Kumarasinghe and others for immediately intervening in the matter.
Meanwhile, the Women, Child Affairs and Social Empowerment State Minister Geetha Kumarasinghe earlier said that she opposes the attempts to stop the child band group.
