Give COPE, COPA chairmanships to Opposition – Sajith Premadasa

Must read

The government is unwilling to hand over the chair of COPE and COPA to the Opposition, Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa said yesterday (29).

Premadasa noted that even though the Speaker promised to give the chairs of COPE and COPA to the Opposition, it seems that it would be only but a dream. Premadasa pointed out that the government is not allowing it because it wants to safeguard the Rajapaksa family. Premadasa also said that all the members appointed to the National Council are Rajapaksa friendly MPs. He said it is the shadows of Rajapaksa family that govern the country. The Opposition Leader made these observations at a Samagi Jana Balawegaya Thanamalwila Bala Mandala meeting yesterday (29).

Premadasa also said unlike the previous Oppositions that acted only with the intention of grabbing power, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya is assisting the people even being in the Opposition. Premadasa also alleged that the government does not have a proper plan to solve the economic issue prevailing in the country.
