The Liberal Fellowship has announced its withdrawal from the Galle Face protest and all other protests against the Government.
Issuing a press release yesterday (29), the Liberal Fellowship has observed that the main objective of the Galle Face protest was achieved after ex-President Gotabaya Rajapaksa stepped down from his post due to public pressure.
The Liberal Fellowship also stated that the Galle Face protest is now in the grip of different political forces.
The Liberal Fellowship observed that the next stage of finding a solution to the present crisis is via a new socio-political-cultural discourse and noted that street protests are no longer the answer to public unrest. The Liberal Fellowship also observed that their organisation was a part of the Galle Face protest from the very beginning. It also condemned the suppression against the protestors. Hemal Dahanayake, Rajitha Abeygunasekara, Sahan Weeratunga, Pravina Raviraj and Usama Liyayudin are office bearers of the Liberal Fellowship.
