The ‘Freedom People’s Alliance’, a new coalition formed by the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) together with several other political parties and the Group of Independent MPs in Parliament was unveiled yesterday.
The new coalition is formed together with the SLFP, Freedom People’s Alliance, Uththara Lanka Sabhagaya, and the group of independent MPs in Parliament to contest the Local Government polls.
The ‘Freedom People’s Alliance’ which will contest under the symbol of a helicopter was unveiled at the SLFP’s headquarters in Colombo.
The SLFP- chaired by former President Maithripala Sirisena, independent SLPP MPs Dullus Alahapperuma, Prof. G.L. Peiris, including the Freedom People’s Alliance, the Uththara Lanka Sabhagaya headed by MP Wimal Weerawansa, and independent MPs Anura Priyadharshana Yapa and Sudharshani Fernandopulle alongside other independent MPs participated in the event.
