New luxury train to Badulla from Saturday

A new luxury train from Colombo to Badulla will be launched at the end of this week on the instructions of the Minister of Transportation Bandula Gunawardena.

The Sri Lanka Railway Department has completed all necessary measures for the launch of the train which will travel along a route covering several tourist attractions in the hill country.

Named ‘Ella Odyssey’, the train will depart the Colombo-Fort railway station every Saturday at 05.30 am and will reach the Badulla station at 3.55 pm.

The luxury train will stop at the Gampaha, Veyangoda, Polhengoda, Rambukkana, Peradeniya, Kandy, Nawalapitiya, Nanuoya, Haputale, Diyatalawa, Bandarawela, Ella, and Badulla train stations.

The train will operate from the Badulla railway station every Sunday, departing at 09.50 am and reaching the Colombo- First station at 07.20 pm.

The Ministry of Transportation said the train will reportedly halt at the scenic views which are en route.
