The Minister of Plantations said that the government will take steps to strictly enforce the law against the importation of coconut oil containing toxic chemicals into Sri Lanka.
The Minister said this responding to a question raised by a journalist during the Cabinet decision media briefing held at the Department of Government Information.
The Minister pointed out that all food items imported to Sri Lanka, including coconut oil, palm oil and food items are being continuously monitored and quality samples are being taken and only after obtaining the required quality standards for the samples, all food items are being distributed to the local markets.
