Plans to dispense fuel for buses, taxi services under separate QR Code

Must read

The Power and Energy Ministry has made plans to dispense fuel for vehicles engaged in public transportation and taxi services as per the QR Code.

The Ministry said plans were afoot to identify the volume of fuel required for Sri Lanka Transport (SLTB) buses, private transport buses and taxi services by assigning a separate QR Code.

This was decided at a meeting attended by Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunewardena and Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera and officials of the two ministries.

Accordingly, a programme will be implemented by the coming week to provide the required fuel to the buses engaged in public passenger transport from the CTB depot and fuel stations islandwide. Fuel for buses will be issued by the CTB Depots and Makumbura and Bastion Mawatha filling stations until this programme is implemented.

It was also discussed about preparing a necessary programme for identifying professional three-wheelers and taxis separately and giving them more fuel in addition to the general fuel quota given to them.

It was decided to jointly regulate the vehicles with the Transport Commission and the Provincial Councils and accordingly provide the information to the Power and Energy Ministry.

Accordingly, it was decided to take the necessary steps in the coming week in this regard.

The event was attended by representatives of 15 major professional three-wheeler associations and taxi associations.
