Inspector General of Police C. D. Wickremeratne has ordered the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to initiate an investigation into an Attorney-at-Law who had negatively commented on the Constitution of the Republic during a protest against the government after keeping the Chief Justice informed on the matter. Police sources said the protest had taken place opposite the Police headquarters on July 11.
Sources said that the attorney in question had made a comment to the media, implying that the Constitution of the country will not be respected.
