Prime Minister meets Central Bank officials to discuss economic situation

A discussion on the decisions to be taken regarding the country’s economy was held at Temple Trees yesterday (21) under the patronage of Minister of Finance and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.Governor of the Central Bank Prof. W. D. Lakshman and other senior officials of the Central Bank were present at the meeting and explained the current economic situation of the country.

Focusing on the steps taken to keep the country’s economy afloat in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Prime Minister advised the Central Bank officials to carry out their duties without any shortcomings. Minister of State Ajith Nivard Cabraal, Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister Yoshitha Rajapaksa, Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister Chaminda Kularatne, Deputy Governors of the Central Bank T.M.J.Y.M. Fernando, T.M.M. Siriwardene, M.W.G.R.D. Nanayakkara and Director – Economic Research Dr. Chandranath Amarasekera were present.
