This group has woken up as soon as President Ranil Wickremesinghe presented the 2023 budget. If this group could have given the right instructions to Gotabaya Rajapaksa when he was President, this crisis could have been managed. A professor of Colombo University said in the meeting that bonds Including sovereign bonds, our country took the highest amount of loans in 2019. He also said that Sri Lanka paid the most amount as debt in 2020. He said Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who had paid debt in that manner, was chased away by the people. What data is he talking about? In 2019, we took loans for the development of the country. But in the period of 2010-2015, they took loans to steal a part of it, give another part to friends, and put another part in your pocket and not for development. If Gotabaya Rajapaksa paid the debt in 2020, it can be said that the country went bankrupt in 2021 because of the debt that was paid without any solid plan. But we did not see details of any paid loans. It is doubtful whether there is any Central Bank records in this regard. This professor is someone who met Gotabaya Rajapaksa often. When Ranil Wickremesinghe was the Prime Minister, he received assistance and a loan from Japan to build the Light Rail Project (LRP) from Malambe to Colombo. It is a necessary project for the country. A sum of 48 billion rupees was to be received for it. Only 1 percent interest is charged for the loan amount.
The loan amount was to be paid in forty years and a grace period of twelve years was given. This professor often went to meet Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and pointed out the shortcomings of this plan and stopped it.
The professor’s idea was to give this project to China for higher interest. This professor is again trying to fool the people of the country. Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who came to power because of Viyath Maga had to leave the presidency and leave this country because of them.
