Refrain from protests, demos to control COVID – PHIs

Must read

Public Health Inspectors Association President Upul Rohana yesterday said all efforts taken by the Health sector in coordination with security apparatus will become fruitless, if large scale demonstrations and protests are conducted in the country without following COVID- 19 health protocols.

He said that the whole country will be in trouble again, if large scale congregation of people takes place without following due health measures. “Most of these participants seemed to have been misguided by the politicians and this irresponsible behaviour of the public has led to the soaring number of COVID-19 positive cases in the country again,” he said.

Will these Union leaders or politicians take the responsibility of deaths caused by their short-sighted actions?, he queried. Rohana said that these politicians will put the blame on the Health Sector and the Government when the country witnesses another spike.

He stressed the importance of getting together people of all walks of life to wipe out this pandemic from our country. Billions of rupees of public funds have been spent by Government to prevent further spread of the pandemic within the country,” he said.
