The Education Ministry has decided to launch a separate inquiry on the recent clash of students in the Ruhuna National College of Education.
Issuing a media statement, the Ministry said the studentship of 54 teacher trainees, who were involved in the incident, would be cancelled and an inquiry, led by an additional secretary, would be held in addition to the ongoing investigation by the Ruhuna National College of Education.
“The Ministry has paid serious attention to the matter and it hopes to take strict measures to maintain discipline of the students,” Teacher Education Chief Commissioner Ranjith Chandrasekara said.
Following a clash between two groups of students, 14 teacher trainees, who were injured, were admitted to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital on November 26.
