Must read

The fifth anniversary ceremony of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) will be held at the Nelum Pokuna premises at 10. a.m. today in compliance with health guidelines issued by the Health Ministry to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The SLPP Media Centre yesterday said a limited number of party representatives will take part in the anniversary celebrations today due to the pandemic situation in the country, under the theme of “Abhimanayen Saubhagya Kara”.

Founder of the party and Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa had cancelled a series of programmes to mark the party’s 4th anniversary last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the country. Accordingly, programmes which were scheduled to be held by the organizations affiliated to the SLPP were also cancelled.

Minister Basil Rajapaksa has given specific instructions to hold the ceremony to mark the party’s 5th anniversary in compliance with the COVID-19 guidelines as the country is returning to normal with the relaxation of travel restrictions.
