Social Services Department opens HRD

A Human Resource Development Centre for the Department of Social Services was opened by State Minister of Primary Health Care, Epidemics and Covid Disease Control Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle, at Amunukumbura, Gampaha, recently.

The objective of the centre is to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes of the officers of the Department of Social Services which is made up of about 800 professionals working all over the country and training volunteer teachers in child guidance centres.

The centre can accommodate up to 30 trainees at a time, helping citizens to obtain an efficient service from the officers of the Department of Social Services. The establishment of this centre is an important milestone for the Department of Social Services.

With a history of 73 years, the Department of Social Services is one of the leading Government institutions in the country working for the welfare of marginalized and disadvantaged communities and protecting their rights.

Secretary to the State Ministry of Primary Health Care, Epidemics and Covid Disease Control Sunethra Gunawardena, Director of Social Services, Mahara Divisional Secretary Chandana Ranaweera Arachchi, Additional Director G. S. I. Wimalasena, Deputy Director Dharshani Karunaratne and other officials participated in this occasion.
