Sub clusters forming, public gatherings to blame – Dr.Asela Gunawardane

Health Services Director General Dr.Asela Gunawardane said that around four to five Sub Clusters have already emerged in various parts of the country and people should act more responsibly to prevent another COVID-19 wave in the country.

As per Health Ministry’s Epidemiology Unit statistics more than 700 daily new cases are being reported these days.

Sri Lankan Health Authorities urge the people to avoid public gatherings as much as possible to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The health authorities warn that if the public continues to act recklessly while disregarding health guidelines, the country will experience another COVID-19 wave in the near future. Deputy Director General of Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath said that the recent public gatherings have resulted in the increase of daily new COVID-19 cases.
