Tourist arrivals for November recorded 59,759 showing a sign of recovery after six months. This figure was at 44,294 in 2021 November recording a positive growth against the corresponding month off last year.
Total arrivals for 2022 now stands at 628,017 and it was 194,495 last year. Sri Lanka Tourism expects to end the year with over 700,000 arrivals.
The first six months of 2022 had an average of over 50,000 per month but fell below in the next four months with September recording 29,802 which was the lowest for 2022. The best month for 2022 was March where 106,500 arrivals were witnessed.
Once again the Russian Federation accounted to be number one destination for Sri Lanka with 13,820 arrivals while India was second with 10,167. The third best destination for Sri Lanka was Germany with 5,169 and the United Kingdom (4,506) and Australia (2,939) followed.
