UN Assistant Secretary-General meets Justice Minister

The Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations Kanni Wignarajah and a delegation from the UNDP met with the Minister of Justice M.U.M Ali Sabry, P.C at the Ministry of Justice.

The UNDP reinforced its support to Sri Lanka through it’s flagship SDG16 portfolio, and the Minister updated Ms. Wiganarajah and the UNDP of the latest updates on the Justice Sector reforms including the digitization drive, the new laws being introduced as well as the opening of new courthouses such as the Investor’s Court.

The UNDP was represented by Robert Juhkam, Resident Representative, Malin Herwig, Deputy Resident Representative and Chandrika Karunaratna, Policy Specialist and Head of Inclusive Governance Team.

Secretary to the Ministry of Justice M.M.P.K Mayadunne, Coordinating Secretary & Director of the Justice Sector Reform Programme Shamir Zavahir, Attorney-at-law and Advisor Fayad Bakir represented the Ministry of Justice.
