The vote on the Second Reading of Budget 2023 will be held at 5 p.m. in Parliament today (22).
President Ranil Wickremesinghe presented the Budget for the year 2023 to Parliament on November 14, 2022 and the Second Reading debate started on November 15.
Voting will be held today after the seven days of debate on the Second Reading of the Budget is completed.
Following that, the debate on the Third Reading of the Budget will start from tomorrow (23) and it will continue until December 8. Following the Committee Stage debate until December 8, a vote shall be taken.
During the Committee Stage debate, 25 Expenditure Heads including the President, the Prime Minister’s Office, the judges of the High Courts, the Cabinet Office, the Public Service Commission, the Judicial Service Commission, the National Police Commission, the Bribery or Corruption Investigation Commission, the Finance Commission, the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission, the Parliament, the Office of the Leader of the Parliament, the Office of the Chief Organizer of the Government Party will be debated today (22).
