Despite the teachers-principals strike, 10 educational service associations including the Sri Lanka Public Education Services Association, the Sri Lanka Independent Pioneer Teachers ‘Association and the Sri Lanka Independent Teachers’ Association are preparing to engage in teaching activities from October 21.

Representatives of these associations say that they are ready to join the teaching process after the commencement of schools with less than 200 children on October 21.

The Government has decided to gradually reopen schools from the 21st despite the teacher-principal strike as many problems have been created due to the continuous closure of schools.

Wasantha Handapangoda, Chairperson of the Sri Lanka Public Education Services Association, said that teachers who do not support the strike action were preparing to start activities in schools from the 21st and that several graduate associations had also expressed their support for this.
