The Agriculture Ministry conducted a seminar on organic fertilizer at the Mandapathady Agrarian Services Centre in Manmunai West, Batticaloa, yesterday.
Farmers were advised to use organic fertilizer instead of chemical fertilizer, highlighting that it would provide healthier yields.
How organic fertilizer enriches the soil was another point discussed at the programme.
Batticaloa Agriculture Extension Officer K. Uthayakumar highlighted the preparation of organic fertilizer with materials such as straw, dry leaves, cow dung, glyceria, dry grass, dry plantain leaves, liquidised cow dung, and degradable waste.
