ASVU provides assistance to War Heroes’ families

The Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) provided financial support to physically-handicapped War Heroes, family members of fallen and injured War Heroes, serving Army personnel and civil staffers for the purchase of lands to construct houses, completion of partly-built houses and washrooms, construction of new houses, erection of new toilets and bathrooms and provision of medical assistance at a ceremony to mark the 38th anniversary of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit was held at the Army Head Quarters on Tuesday (12).

Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) President Janaki Liyanage was the Chief Guest at the occasion.

Assistance worth Rs. 5.9 million was distributed among 45 Army and Civil Personnel began after the observance of two-minutes silence as a mark of respect to the fallen War Heroes.

The widow of Sapper M.K.G Premadasa who lost his life in an accident was awarded Rs 1,000,000 from the Api Wenuwen Api Fund. In addition, the ASVU as per guidelines given by the Army Commander allocated Rs.350,000 for the same project which was handed over to the widow by the ASVU President.

Female and male civil staffers working at the Army Headquarters received 25 dry ration packs, each worth about Rs 4,000. ASVU Vice President Shiromala Kodithuwakku was also present.
