A doctor attached to the Kandy Hospital has been arrested for aiding and abetting to kill an infant and dumping the body in a well after his domestic aide had given birth to it in 2017.
Police said the 36-year old doctor, a resident of Kalyana Road in Sainthamarudu was arrested after a lengthy investigation by the Batticaloa Police after the discovery of an infant’s body in a well in Batticaloa in 2017.
Investigation revealed that the suspected doctor was living with his wife in a rented house in Udumala Road, Batticaloa in a rented house at the time of the incident.
This doctor has been charged for suffocating the infant delivered at home by the maid who worked at that doctor’s home.
The suspect is to be produced before the Batticaloa Magistrate today.
