“The Ministry has given its consent to the IMF to publish the report,” explained Senanayake.

When asked would that be the draft report prepared by the IMF on the Sri Lanka’s economic situation, which it submitted to the Finance Ministry early, or would that be a finalized report on the same, Dr. Senanayake said that would be the finalised report that will be published on the IMF website.

He said that the IMF must finalize this report before posting it on its website.“It will be an open report and will be posted on the IMF’s website,” he said.

Asked him if the report would be delivered to the Sri Lankan Parliament before it appeared on the IMF website; he said the Finance Ministry will table the report in Parliament sooner.

The Finance Ministry’s Senior Assistant Secretary for Cabinet and Parliamentary Affairs Division, M.M.C.P. Mohottigedara told us that his division had received instructions from Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa from the start to submit the IMF report on Sri Lanka to Parliament as soon as it was received its formal report.
