The Government has decided to grant a special allowance of Rs. 5,000 per month to all Government employees from January 2022, Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa announced today.
Pensioners too will receive Rs. 5000 from this month for a period of one year, according to the finance minister.
Samurdhi beneficiaries will also receive an additional allowance of Rs. 1,000 per month from January 2022.
Finance Minister also said that all essential food items and medicines will be exempted from all taxes.
