Samagi Jana Balaweya (SJB) MP Ajith Mannapperuma said in Parliament yesterday (10) that Geological Survey and Mines Bureau (GSMB) Chairman and Director General are operating a sand racket in Safinagar, Trincomalee and that they are protected by the subject minister.
The MP said that the licence is issued wrongly by the Director General, and it has been obtained by the Bureau Chairman.
MP Mannapperuma said there is no use of having laws if the Chairman joins the Director General in sand mining and a company owned by the Chairman is mining the sand.
