The interim budget speech or the Appropriation (Amendment) Bill is scheduled to be delivered to the parliament on the 30th of August, by President Ranil Wickremesinghe in his capacity as the Minister of Finance.
Accordingly, the parliament will convene at 1.00 p.m. on August 30, and the interim budget speech will be presented until 2.00 p.m.
The Members of Parliament will debate the interim budget speech for two days on August 31 and September 01, from 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.
Meanwhile, the adjournment debate moved by the Opposition on “the difficulties faced by the general public due to increase in the electricity tariffs by a large proportion” has been scheduled for August 29, from 09.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.
