For the first time since the highly-publicised defamation trial, Johnny Depp made his TV appearance. The actor made a cameo at the MTV Video Music Awards 2022 dressed as the show’s mascot — the moon person. He appeared on the stage in a suit, but only his face was visible.
JOHNNY DEPP’S FIRST TV APPEARANCE SINCE TRIAL
The MTV Video Music Awards 2022 took place on August 28 in New Jersey. The star-studded ceremony saw big names from the music industry turn up such as Taylor Swift, Lizzo, BLACKPINK and more. The event also marked the comeback of Johnny Depp who appeared in the Moonman suit on stage. The actor was seen floating over the stage during his appearance as he donned the silver astronaut suit. For the uninitiated, the is the mascot of the VMAs trophy.
After Jack Harlow, Fergie and Lizzo’s performance, Johnny Depp showed up digitally floating over the Prudential Center arena. “And you know what? I needed the work,” he joked. Depp later made another cameo where he said, “Hey VMAs, let’s get back to the f***ing music, shall we?”
In a later segment, Johnny Depp offered his professional services. “I just want you guys to know that I’m available for birthdays, bar mitzvahs, bat mitzvahs, weddings, any ol’ thing you need ANYTHING, you name it. So, oh, I’m also a dentist,” he said after the commercial break.

Johnny Depp later sued Amber Heard for defamation because of an op-ed she wrote in the Washington Post in 2018. In the op-ed, headlined “I spoke up against sexual violence — and faced our culture’s wrath. That has to change,” Heard claimed that she was a domestic abuse survivor. However, she did not name Depp.
