The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna and the Frontline Socialist Party Student’s Union and its president are connected to the assault on former Vice Chancellor of Peradeniya University Professor Athula Senaratne, MP S. B. Dissanayake said.
Dissanayake made this observation when the House raised concerns over the said incident in Parliament yesterday (13).
MP Dissanayake said strict legal measures should be taken against the culprit of the incident. “This is an unfortunate incident. Professor Athula Senaratne is a world famous figure. The House should pay special attention to this matter and take strict legal measures. The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, Peratugami Student Union and its President are all connected to this incident.” MP Dissanayake stated.
