Lotus Tower opens to public from today

The Lotus Tower (Nelum Kuluna), which is considered as the tallest building in South Asia, will open to the public from today (15).

The construction of the Lotus Tower, which began in 2012, was completed on February 28 this year.

With the opening of the Lotus Tower to the public from today, public can visit it by buying tickets for Rs.500 and Rs.2,000 each. It is also stated that the ticket fee for foreigners is US$ 20.

Time has been set aside for school children to visit the Lotus Tower from 9.00 am to 2.00 pm and accordingly it has been decided to charge only Rs.200 from a school student.

Chief Executive Officer of Colombo Lotus Tower Maj.Gen.Prasad Samarasinghe said that a request should be made at school level and if such requests are made, time will be given according to a plan. The Lotus Tower will be utilised for various purposes including tourism and communications getting the assistance of investors. So far, both local and foreign investors have expressed interest in joining the Nelum Kuluna investment projects. Accordingly 22 investors have expressed their interest to enter into contracts, Chief Administrative Officer of Nelum Kuluna Private Company retired Major General Prasad Samarasinghe said.
