If there are MPs with Dual Citizenship in the current Parliament, they should be honest about it and should resign after disclosing it to the country Ven.Dr. Medagama Dhammananda Thera, Lekakadikari of the Asgiriya Chapter said.
He said that through the new constitutional amendment, the ability of people with dual citizenship to be appointed as public representatives has been abolished and this is something that the Maha Sangha has expected for some time.
The Thero further said that dual citizens should not be allowed to be appointed not only to parliament but also to high government positions that can influence the country’s economic and political processes.
