Permanent jobs for over 35,000 recruited under GR scheme – Prime Minister

The government will take measures to give permanent appointments to around 35,000 low-income youth attached to the Department of Multipurpose Development Task Force, Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena told Parliament yesterday (17). The Premier said that these employees will receive an increased allowance than at present. They will be positioned as per the completion of NVQ qualifications, he noted.

PM Gunawardena said that former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa recruited low-income youth without general education qualifications two years ago. Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said that a multi-purpose development task force was established to manage these 35,000 employees.

The government has already commenced the process of giving these employees permanent positions, the Premier noted.
