SJB committed to its social service projects despite all obstacles – Tissa Attanayake

Must read

The ongoing two major social service projects ‘Husma’ and the ‘Sakwala’ conducted by the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) will be continued by the party without interruption despite all obstacles.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe too highly admired these health and educational programmes.

SJB National Organizer Tissa Attanayake made these remarks at a recent press briefing. He said these two programmes benefited both the health and educational sectors in the country and thousands of people and schoolchildren have so far reaped fruitful results from them. Attanayake said the SJB will go down history as the country’s only party that had conducted such programmes while being in the opposition.

He said in addition the SJB would be happy if the Government will bring a permanent solution to the end the current economic crisis and bring down the prices of essential commodities for the benefit of citizens.

Attanayake said even Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has also proposed to the Government to form a Parliamentary Committee System (PCS) to enable every Parliamentarian to help the Government’s endeavour of solving the current economic crisis.

He said the SJB would work with the Government amicably for future economy development programmes, while not accepting ministerial portfolios and requested all other opposition members also to follow suit.

He said all Parliamentarians in the Opposition should forget their party differences and come forward to assist the Government to carry out its future economy development plans at this crucial juncture.

Attanayake said Parliamentarians should keep in their mind that accepting ministerial portfolios will be an additional burden on the Government.

He said when the country’s economy has declined and the prices of essential goods have increased rapidly.

If Parliamentarians accept portfolios, it shows that such Parliamentarians are willing to achieve their own personal expectations.
