Sri Lanka netballers rout Philippines

Sri Lanka Netball team led by Gayanjali Amarawansa once again performed well to defeat Philippines by 99/37 in their group match of the Asian Netball championship played in Singapore yesterday.

Sri Lankan lasses started with an early lead and they ended first quarter 27/4 and played with a good momentum to finish the second quarter 52/16. After third quarter Sri Lankan team managed to finish on 79/25 while fourth and final quarter ended in great style to win 99/37 to end group top of this tournament.

Earlier Sri Lanka won their first game against India 102/14 on the opening day.

The President of the Netball Federation Victoria Lakshmi who was appointed Vice President of the Asian Netball Federation this time said with the back to back Victories against India and Philippines Sri Lanka team gained confidence before the second round and we have good team commitment to perform well.

Sri Lanka will meet Malaysia in their first second game today at the same venue in Singapore. This is going to be a good battle.
