United Nations Resident representative Hanaa Singer and US ambassador in Sri Lanka Alaina Teplitz on Saturday congratulated the three women Superintendents of Police (SSPs) promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs).
The UN Resident Representative said their appointment is an important step towards recognizing the need for equality and contribution of women to law enforcement.
“Full and effective participation of women across all ranks leads to a more effective response to #GBV and measured use of force”, she tweeted.
The US ambassador while congratulating these three women SSPs promoted to the rank of DIG said that women leaders bring much needed perspective to the institutions in which they work and are key to further economic, political and social progress for all.
Sri Lanka Police, simultaneously promoted three female Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) to the rank of Acting Deputy Inspector General (DIG) subject to the cover approval of the Public Services Commission.
