The cremation of Atamasthanadhipathi and the Chief Sanga Nayake of North Central Province Most Ven Dr. Pallegama Sirinivasa Thera will take place on Saturday October 22 at 2.30 p.m. at the Maha Vihara premises.
The remains of the late Prelate was placed at the Sannipatha Salawa of the Bo-Maluwa Temple for members of the clergy and the public to pay their last respects to the late Nayaka Thera. The funeral committee started after the Chief Incumbent Theras of the Atamasthana paid their respects to the Nayake Thera.
Speaking at the committee Chief Incumbent of the Ruwanweliseya Temple Most Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Nayaka Thera said that the committee will not expect funds from the government for the funeral ceremony even though the government has decided to hold the cremation of the Nayake Thera under full state patronage due to present economic crisis.
The prelate said that the people in the country are suffering untold hardships and the country is in a huge economic crisis.
