Women’s cricketers leave for Malaysia

Sri Lanka women’s cricket team led by Chamari Atapattu left for Malaysia yesterday to take part in the Commonwealth qualifier tournament which is scheduled to be worked off from January 18 to 24.

Sri Lanka has to play against Scotland, Kenya, Malaysia, and Bangladesh for a place in the Commonwealth Games which will be held in Birmingham, England from July 28th to August 8th. Only one team from the five-nation qualifier will gain a place which means that Sri Lanka will have to finish on top of the league. Sri Lanka will play their first match against Scotland on the 19th. Lankans will face in other matches vs Kenya (Jan.20), Vs Malaysia (Jan. 22), and vs Bangladesh (Jan. 24).

Chamari Atapattu (captain), Harshitha Madavi (vice captain), Hasini Perera, Nilakshika Silva, Anushka Sanjeevani, Kavisha Dilhari, Ama Kanchana, Sachini Nisansala, Udeshika Prabodhani, Inoka Ranaweera, Vishmi Rajapaksha, Oshadi Ranasinghe, Sugandika Kumari, Tharika Sewwandi, Prasadini Weerkkody, Achini Kulasuriya.
