1,000 agri jobs in Japan for Lankans

The Government of Japan has agreed to provide employment opportunities to 1,000 Sri Lankan youth in the field of agriculture.

The related Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is to be signed within the next two weeks.

A meeting with this regard was held via Zoom with the participation of Agriculture Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Sri Lankan Ambassador in Japan S. Gunasekara, Labor Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva, officials of the Bureau of Foreign Employment and farm owners in Japan.

The Minister of Agriculture expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Japan for intervening to provide these job opportunities for Sri Lankan youth.

The Minister said that the young people who are selected for these job opportunities will have to undergo required language training and other relevant training requirements in collaboration with the Bureau of Foreign Employment.
