Only the Judiciary can deliver us justice – Cardinal

Must read

Colombo Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith said the only institution that can be trusted and depended upon to deliver them justice is the Judiciary.

“If the main regulators of the legal system who are judges and lawyers do not stand up for justice and equity there is no other place that the people can go to”, Cardinal Ranjith said at a special mass held at St. Mary’s Church in Negombo on Saturday to mark the centenary anniversary of the Negombo Bar Association.

“Even His Holiness the Pope has declared that during a period such as this, even the Catholic Church should stand up on behalf of justice and equity for the people”, the Colombo Archbishop said

“The life-giving power of the Holy Spirit is essential to the work of the judiciary, in carrying out justice. If the judges and lawyers who contribute to achieving justice are full of this holy spirit’s power, people can expect righteousness”, he said.

“We specially pray today that to enable justice and equity to be meted out to those who are screaming for them, the full privileged power of the Holy Spirit should be granted to the legal community”he said.
