A ceremony to hand over medicines worth over Rs.3.5 million to the patients receiving treatment in the Cancer and Eye Wards of the Kandy National Hospital was held at the Malwathu Maha Viharaya recently under the auspices of the Most Ven. Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Mahanayake Thera of the Malwathu Chapter.
Along with this, dry rations worth over Rs. 2 million was distributed to 100 low-income families in the Kandy District, with funds provided by Shi Da Hong Bhikkhuni, the Head of An-Fu Vihara in China. Under the guidance of Malwathu Mahanayake Thera, essential medicines have been donated to the Kandy National Hospital on six occasions during this year at a cost of over Rs.10 million. This event was attended by the Maha Sangha, including the Anunayake of the Malwathu Chapter Ven. Dimbulkumbure Wimaladhamma Thera and Kandy National Hospital Director Dr. Iresha Fernando.
